Loan Rates and Fees
We don't set rates, because we don't lend. What we can show you is the range we see across lenders in our network, and three worked examples so the numbers aren't abstract.
Rates and fees are set by the lender, not by us. Every lender in our network discloses the exact APR, fees, payment schedule, and total cost in the loan agreement before you sign. If a number on this page differs from what a lender shows you, the lender's document is the one that counts.
APR Disclosure and Estimated Loan Terms
Annual Percentage Rate (APR) reflects the annualized cost of borrowing and includes interest as well as certain finance charges assessed by a lender. APR is expressed as a percentage and is intended to help consumers compare the cost of credit across different offers. americanemergencyfunds.org does not make loans, does not set interest rates, and does not make credit decisions. Lenders within our network determine all loan terms independently. Based on lender offerings currently available through our network, APRs may generally fall between approximately 5.99% and 35.99%, though lower or higher rates may be offered depending on the lender, loan product, and applicant qualifications. Loan repayment periods offered by lenders commonly range from 91 days to as long as 72 months, depending on the product selected. The exact APR, repayment schedule, total loan cost, and duration will be disclosed by the lender before you accept any loan offer.
Illustrative Loan Cost Scenarios
The following examples are provided to help explain how loan amount, APR, and repayment term may affect monthly payments and total repayment. These examples are illustrative only, are not guarantees, and do not represent actual loan offers.
| Loan amount | Estimated term | Example APR | Estimated monthly payment | Estimated total repayment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $1,500 | 18 months | ~17.99% | ~$96 | ~$1,728 |
| $3,500 | 36 months | ~13.25% | ~$118 | ~$4,248 |
| $7,500 | 48 months | ~10.50% | ~$192 | ~$9,216 |
These scenarios assume closed-end installment loans and are presented solely for educational and comparison purposes. Actual APRs, fees, repayment schedules, and total loan costs are determined by the lender and will be disclosed before you accept any loan offer.
A quick way to read the table: the total repayment minus the loan amount is the cost of borrowing. On the $1,500 example that's about $228 over 18 months. On the $7,500 example it's about $1,716 over four years. Longer terms lower the monthly payment but usually raise the total you pay back, so look at both columns, not just the monthly one.
Interest, Fees & Other Charges Determined by Lenders
americanemergencyfunds.org does not charge users any fees and does not add interest or finance charges to any loan. All interest rates, fees, and other charges are established by the lender making the loan and are disclosed in the lender's loan agreement. Applicants should carefully review all lender-provided documents before agreeing to any loan. You are under no obligation to accept any offer presented, and you may decline an offer at any time prior to execution of a loan agreement.
Late Payment, Partial Payment & Non-Payment Considerations
By accepting a loan offer, you agree to repay the loan according to the schedule and terms established by the lender. Late payments, missed payments, or failure to repay the loan in full may result in additional fees, penalties, or other consequences as described in the lender's agreement. americanemergencyfunds.org does not have visibility into individual lender fee structures and cannot estimate the charges that may apply in the event of late or non-payment. Borrowers should review lender policies carefully before accepting a loan.
Loan Extensions & Renewals
Renewal or extension options, if available, are determined by the lender and disclosed in the lender's agreement. Borrowers should review renewal terms carefully before accepting a loan.
Questions to Ask Before You Sign
- What is the APR, and does it include every fee?
- What is the total amount I'll repay if I make every payment on time?
- Is there an origination fee taken out of the amount deposited?
- What does a late payment cost, and after how many days?
- Can I pay the loan off early without a penalty?
If a lender can't answer these plainly, that tells you something. For the rest of our disclosures, see the disclaimer page, and if anything here is unclear, ask us.
