Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

This policy explains how American Emergency Funds handles the information you give us when you use this website or submit a request. A quick note on who we are: we're a lender-matching service, not a lender. We don't make loans or credit decisions, and we may be compensated by lenders or lending partners when you're matched or funded. Sharing your information through the request form is how that matching works. The disclaimer has the full set of disclosures.

What We Collect

From the request form, we collect the loan amount you select and, where the form asks for them, details such as your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, and basic income and banking information a lender needs to evaluate a request. We collect this so we can try to match you with lenders in our network.

From the contact form, we collect your name, email address, an optional phone number, and your message, so we can answer you.

Automatically, our servers may log standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you visit. That helps us keep the site secure and working.

How We Use It

  • To connect your request with lenders and lending partners in our network.
  • To respond to your questions and provide support.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the site.
  • To comply with the law and to prevent fraud or abuse.

Who We Share It With

This is the part that matters most, so we'll be direct. When you submit a request, we share the information you provide with one or more lenders or lending partners in our network for the purpose of matching you. That's the whole point of the service, and by submitting a request you authorize that sharing. Depending on your state's law, this sharing may be considered a "sale" of personal information, and you have the right to opt out of it. See the section on opting out below.

We may also share information with service providers who help us run the site, such as hosting and email delivery, under agreements that limit how they can use it, and when the law requires it or to protect against fraud.

How Lenders Use It

Once a lender receives your request, that lender handles your information under its own privacy policy, which we don't control. Lenders may verify your information and may obtain credit reports from Experian, Equifax, TransUnion, or alternative providers where permitted by law. If you move forward with a lender, review its privacy practices directly. American Emergency Funds isn't responsible for how a third-party lender uses the information you share with it.

Consent to Be Contacted (TCPA)

By submitting your request, you agree to be contacted by American Emergency Funds and its lending partners by phone, text message, and email, including through automated or prerecorded technology, at the number and address you provide, even if it is on a do-not-call list. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. You can opt out at any time by following the instructions in any message you receive. The TCPA consent page explains this in full, including how to revoke it.

SMS Text Messaging

If you provide a mobile number and consent, American Emergency Funds and its lending partners may send you text messages about your request and related offers. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier and plan. Reply STOP to any message to cancel, and you'll receive one final message confirming the opt-out. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at [email protected]. Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Electronic Communications (E-SIGN)

By using this website and submitting a request, you consent under the federal E-SIGN Act to receive all communications, agreements, disclosures, notices, and other information from American Emergency Funds and the lenders and lending partners we connect you with in electronic form, including by email, by text message, and by posting on this website, instead of on paper. This consent covers this Privacy Policy, our Terms and Conditions, the consent and TCPA disclosures, and any documents related to your request. To access and keep electronic communications you need a device with internet access, a current web browser, and a valid email address, and you are responsible for keeping your contact details current. Standard message and data rates may apply to text messages, and you can stop texts at any time by replying STOP. You may withdraw this consent or request a free paper copy of any disclosure at any time through our contact form, though doing so may mean we can no longer provide the matching service.

Opting Out of Marketing Contact

You're in control of your contact preferences. To stop marketing contact: use the unsubscribe link in any email, reply STOP to any text, ask to be removed during a call, or send us a message through the contact form.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and similar laws in other states define a "sale" of personal information broadly. It isn't limited to handing over data for cash. It can include sharing personal information with another business in exchange for something of value, which is how a lender-matching service works. When you submit a request, we share it with lenders and lending partners in our network, and we may be compensated when you're matched or funded. Under those laws, you have the right to tell us not to sell or share your personal information.

To opt out, email [email protected] with the subject line "Do not sell my personal information," or use the contact form. Include the name, email address, and phone number you used with us so we can find your record. We'll confirm by email within the time your state's law requires, and we may verify your identity first so we don't act on a request from someone pretending to be you. You may also authorize an agent to submit the request on your behalf.

What happens when you opt out:

  • We stop selling or sharing your personal information with lenders and lending partners for their use, going forward.
  • We won't discriminate against you for opting out. You can still use the site and contact us.
  • Lenders who already received your request hold that information under their own privacy policies. You'd need to contact them directly to exercise your rights with them.
  • Opting out doesn't by itself stop calls or texts you've already consented to. To revoke that consent, follow the steps on the TCPA consent page.

Opting out means we can no longer provide the matching service, since sharing your request is the service. Depending on your state, you may also have the right to know what personal information we've collected, to have it corrected or deleted, and to limit the use of sensitive information. Any of these can be requested the same way.

Cookies

The site uses a session cookie to keep the forms working securely, and may use similar technologies to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well without them.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect the information you share with us. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so while we work to protect your data, we can't promise absolute security.

Children's Privacy

This service is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
